Following the great success of the French Passions series in London, the Alliance française de Glasgow is organising a new series of special events to celebrate its 30th anniversary.
French Passions is a new original concept revolving around French literature and culture, which aims to highlight the strong links between Scotland and France by bringing contemporary Scottish authors to the Alliance française to talk about their enthusiasm for a French writer.
To launch this new series, our first "invité" will be the Award-winning writer Alasdair Gray who will talk about his "histoire d’amour" with French literature and authors from Voltaire to Camus. Indeed, he will tell us all about his "debts to French literature".
Alasdair Gray is a writer and artist. His first novel Lanark, published in 1981, is regarded by The Guardian as "one of the landmarks of 20th-century fiction."
Wednesday 29th February 2012, 7pm-8pm.
