We’re delighted to host a new series of photo workshops with professional photographer Alan Eglinton from February 2019!

Theme: ‘Cameraless photography’

PROGRAMME:

First session TALK:
Wednesday 13th February, 6-7pm

Introduction to the history of photograms, from the cyanotypes of the first female photographer
Anna Atkins (GB, 1799-1871) to contemporary artist Adam Fuss (GB, 1961-).

Second session CREATIVE:
Wednesday 6th March, 6-8.30pm

Creation of cyanotypes on a given theme.

Third session TALK:
Tuesday 7th May, 6-7pm

Introduction on the history of photomontage, from Gustave Le Gray (FR, 1820-1884) to John
Stezaker (GB, 1944-).

Fourth session CREATIVE:
Tuesday 18th June, 6-8.30pm

Creation of photomontages on a given theme.


Alan Eglinton is a British visual artist. He holds a BA in Documentary film studies from the Université Paul Valéry in Montpellier and a Diploma from the French National School of Photography in Arles. He currently lives in Scotland where he teaches photography and runs the Edinburgh Photobook Club.

His work has been shown at the Rencontres d’Arles in 2009, at the Galerie Michèle Chomette in 2011, at LE BAL in 2012, at Le Magasin de Jouets in 2013 and at the Biennale de la Photographie de Mulhouse in 2018. His photobook Only the fires say was published in March 2018 by Poursuite Editions.
