Nuit des Idées 2020

We’re excited to take part once again in La Nuit des Idées/ The Night of ideas on Thursday 30th January. This year’s theme is ‘Being alive‘. 

To mark the occasion, we are hosting a special debate: ‘Artificial Intelligence vs human mind: what is the impact of our decisions in the field of AI, and therefore in our environment?’.

Join us for a special evening with Dr Sébastien BohlerDr Alessandro Vinciarelli, and Dr Viktor Dorfler.⠀⠀


Dr Sébastien Bohler is an author, journalist and editor-in-chief of Cerveau & Psycho magazine. He wrote a book about human brain on 2019: ‘Le Bug Humain: Pourquoi notre cerveau nous pousse à détruire la planète et comment l’en empêcher’.

Dr Alessandro Vinciarelli is professor of Computational Social Intelligence at the University of Glasgow and Academic associate the Institute of Neuroscience and Psychology. His main research interest is Social Signal Processing, the computing domain aimed at modelling, analysis and synthesis of nonverbal behaviour in human-human and human-machine interactions.

Dr Viktor Dorfler is a Senior Lecturer in Information & Knowledge Management at the Department of Management Science, University of Strathclyde Business School, UK. His research is focused on personal and transpersonal knowledge, learning, and Artificial Intelligence, with an emphasis on knowledge-based expert systems, intuition and creativity. In research and teaching, he synthesizes his backgrounds in philosophy and engineering to make sense of human expertise and use of AI in organizational context.

The goal behind the Night of ideas (‘La Nuit des idées’) is to celebrate the stream of ideas between countries, cultures, topics and generations. Every year, this event gives the opportunity to discover the latest discoveries in knowledge, to listen to the ones who contribute to bring more ideas to their field, and to take part in the discussion about the main issues of our times.
