Poetry Writing Workshop
Date: 18 Mar 2026, 2:00pm - 4:00pm GMT UK
As part of Le Printemps des Poètes, the
annual celebration of poetry in March, we are delighted to host a poetry writing workshop in partnership with Éditions du Bunker and the
University of Glasgow with the poet Heloise Thual.
Héloïse Thual, poet and playwright will share insights into her writing process before guiding participants in writing their own poems.
The workshop is open to a level A2 in French minimum and offers a welcoming space to explore poetic creation.
About Heloise Thual :
Héloïse Thual is a French poet and playwright based in Glasgow. She spent nearly three years associated with Playwrights’ Studio, Scotland, first as a Mentored Playwright in 2014, where she wrote All Women Got Something of Sido under the mentorship of Clare Duffy. In 2016, she received a New Playwrights Award and developed Unequally of Clay and Diamonds with mentor Alan McKendrick.
Héloïse’s writing is rooted in an almost childlike relationship to language. Drawing inspiration from the peri-urban landscapes of her upbringing, she builds her texts on the structures of nursery rhymes, weaving together playful rhythms, magical realism, and darker undercurrents. For her, writing is a form of “gaminerie jamais acquise, une gaminerie prodigieuse” — a never-fully-acquired, prodigious playfulness. Her poems invite readers into a space of imagination, surprise and secret exchange. One rarely leaves a nursery rhyme unchanged.
