DELF Junior

Diplôme d'Etudes de Langue Française Junior

The certificate of French proficiency for young people awarded by the
French Ministry of Education for proficiency in French as a Foreign Language.

Official French Certification for Young Learners (Aged 12–17)

If your teenager is learning French, the DELF Junior offers them the chance to earn an internationally recognised qualification that reflects their level and effort — and it’s available right here at Alliance Française Glasgow.

Designed especially for learners aged 12 to 17, DELF Junior is part of the official DELF/DALF framework awarded by the French Ministry of Education. It’s a fantastic way to celebrate progress, boost confidence, and open doors for the future.

What is the DELF Junior?

The DELF Junior is the diploma for secondary school students learning French as a second language and bilingual teenagers. It has the same basic structure as the standard DELF, but the materials take into account the interests of young people.

It can only be taken by young people between 12 - 17 years old. The diploma awarded is identical to the standard DELF diploma.

There are four types of diplomas available for the DELF Junior: A1A2B1 & B2.

Each examination evaluates four key communication skills: reading, listening, writing and speaking.

We hold one exam session per year in June.
