We are thrilled that you want to learn French with the Alliance Française de Glasgow! This test is intended for anyone who has studied French, even if it was only shortly in school or at uni. We’ll use the results of the test to help determine your exact proficiency level and then choose the appropriate French class for you.

This take should take you approximately 30 to 60 minutes. It will assess your listening, reading, grammar, vocabulary, and writing skills. You can take it on a computer, tablet, or smartphone. You’ll also need headphones to complete the listening activities.

Here’s how to take your placement test:  

1. Book the level assessment below 
   
2. Check your inbox (Please check you spam folder)
   
3. Follow the instructions in the email "Your French Level Assessment"
   

When you have completed the online placement test, you will need to book a slot here to schedule a short phone call with one of our teachers. This will allow us to determine your final level as well as provide advice in class selection.

At the end of the online placement test, don’t forget to click “Envoyer” to submit your answers.
