Earth Month 2026 - Cultures Of Action
About the Project
Earth Month 2026 is a collaborative initiative between Goethe-Institut Glasgow, Institut Français d'Écosse, and Alliance Française Glasgow,
aimed at fostering cultural exchange and climate action through the lens of artistic and cultural practice. This programme unites France,
Germany, and Scotland in a dynamic, multidisciplinary dialogue around sustainability, with a particular focus on the role of oceans and
rewilding.
The project combines a 3-week long artists travel residency with a public programme of expert discussions and artisitc interventions, running
from mid-April to mid-May, with Earth Day on 22 April as a focal point for this initiative.
Through a collaboration between the Goethe-Institut Glasgow, Institut français d'Écosse, and Alliance Française Glasgow, Earth Month 2026
brings together artists, thinkers, and changemakers to showcase the role of culture in addressing sustainability challenges and climate
action, strengthening ties between France, Germany, and Scotland.
Join us for a month of inspiring events, creative dialogue, and collective action for a greener future - we look forward to seeing you!

Slow Travel Artist's Residency
The artists' residency, running from Earth Day on 22 April to 12 May 2026, offers one artist from Germany and one artist from France the
opportunity to explore Scotland’s diverse landscapes, sustainability challenges, and emerging climate solutions. The residency provides a
slow travel experience, with the artists journeying by train and/or boat from their home countries to Scotland, where they will co-travel to
Edinburgh, and two locations in the Scottish Highlands & Islands.
In the residencies Cove Park on the Scottish West Coast and Linkshouse / Pier Arts Centre on Orkney, the artists can engage with the core
themes of Rewilding and Oceans.
The artists will share their experiences and practices in an Artists' Talk at the end of their stay. The travel residency is realised
in cooperation with Cove Park and Linkshouse / The Pier Arts Centre.
