Diplôme d'Etudes de Langue Française Junior

The certificate of French proficiency for young people awarded by the
French Ministry of Education for proficiency in French as a Foreign Language.

What is the DELF Junior?

The DELF Junior is the diploma for secondary school students learning French as a second language and bilingual teenagers. It has the same basic structure as the standard DELF, but the materials take into account the interests of young people.

It can only be taken by young people between 12 - 17 years old. The diploma awarded is identical to the standard DELF diploma.

There are four types of diplomas available for the DELF Junior: A1A2B1 & B2.

Each examination evaluates four key communication skills: reading, listening, writing and speaking.


We hold one exam session per year in June.

Please note that until further notice, you may find two examination formats of DELF Listening Comprehension and Reading Comprehension in exam papers. The number of exercises, the length of the source documents, and the type of questions may differ from one format to another. There is no difference in difficulty between the two formats Please check sample papers on the website of France Education international website to see both formats.
