Africa in Motion 2019 – Exhibition: ‘Acrobatie & The Hole’

We are delighted to host a special exhibition by Moroccan photographer Hicham Benohoud this winter!

Discover this exhibition composed of two series of photographs by Hicham Benohoud – both of which focus on everyday inhabitants of Marrakesh in their homes.

In Acrobatie, acrobats perform acrobatic feats in their living rooms with their families; in The Hole, people and their body parts emerge from temporary holes inside their homes.

Join us for the opening of this exhibition on Wednesday 30th October between 6-9pm, with a special screening of short films as part of this year’s Africa in Motion Festival.

The programme of shorts will explore architecture and how bodies move through them. Featuring city scapes and urban space, these experimental shorts are set in Casablanca and Marrakech, where Hicham Benohoud is based.

Free event but ticketed. To book your tickets, please click here

Hicham Benohoud was born in 1968 in Marrakech. He lives in Paris, Casablanca and Marrakech. After graduating with a high school diploma in plastic arts at the age of nineteen, Benohoud continued his studies at Marrakech regional pedagogical centre to learn to teach plastic arts in middle schools. He quickly found teaching to be incompatible with his vocation as an artist: he left the profession to go to join the Galerie VU’ in Paris. He has taught photography at Le Fresnoy, the National Studio of Contemporary Arts at Tourcoing in France.
