We are dedicated to opening up access to French language and culture to a wider audience, and whether through our work with schools or the classes we offer on site at Park Circus, we want all of our students to fulfil their potential.

What kind of gift can you make?

Making a Will is one of the most important things you can do, making it easier for your family or friends to sort out your affairs and ensuring your estate will be shared according to your wishes.

Leaving a gift in your Will to the Alliance Française Glasgow will ensure that future generation can benefit from attending events at the official French cultural centre and experience the same pleasurable leisure activities you may have experienced yourself.

At an appropriate time, and once you have made provisions for those to whom you are closest, you may wish to discuss this with your solicitor. Your solicitor can help you to decide what’s best for you.

You can choose to:

• Leave a share of your estate. This is known as a residuary gift.
• Leave a fixed sum. This is known as a pecuniary gift.
• Leave a specific valuable item such as a piece of jewellery, property, assets or shares. This is known as a specific gift.

Many families may choose to make a variation of Will from their share of the estate, perhaps to make a gift in memory of their loved ones.

Remember that any gift to a charity is deducted from the value of the estate before inheritance tax is calculated. Therefore, by leaving a gift to the Alliance Française Glasgow, you can help to lower your inheritance tax liability.
